MTSA announces presenting sponsor for 14th annual Golf Classic

MTSA announced Raymond James – a national leader in financial planning – as the Presenting Sponsor for its 14th annual MTSA Golf Classic. The event will be held Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Hermitage Golf Course.

“Our friends at Raymond James provide a substantial financial commitment in partnership with us helping assure the success of the event,” said Jim Closser, CFRE, Vice President for Advancement & Alumni at MTSA.

The event benefits MTSA’s upcoming mission trip to Haiti, along with other local mission efforts. Golfers will compete in a four-person scramble, with lunch, dinner and awards provided. Individual and team registration is available at www.mtsa.edu/golf.

MTSA Golf Classic schedule:

10:30 a.m.: Registration opens
12:00 p.m.: Lunch
1:00 p.m.: Shotgun Start
Awards & Dinner to follow event

Location: Hermitage Golf Course – General’s Retreat, 3939 Old Hickory Boulevard, Old Hickory, TN

“We’re adding an exciting new twist to the tournament this year. Participants will try their hand at an air cannon that launches golf balls more than 300 yards, and they’ll use it as part of the closest-to-the-pin contest!” Closser said.

“I’m especially grateful to our event committee, chaired by Harold Greene. Harold has participated in the MTSA Golf Classic for the last 13 years and has been a corporate sponsor. He and the committee have done a fantastic job planning the event and lining up support for our upcoming mission trip to Haiti,” Closser added.

Companies or individuals interested in sponsoring the Golf Classic may call (615) 732-7674 or email jclosser@mtsa.edu.

About MTSA’s Haiti Mission

MTSA’s Haiti Mission is focused on providing education and training to local medical providers that will last a lifetime and have a compounding effect for years to come. The team will be educating nurses and doctors so they can improve clinical outcomes for an entire generation of patients.

The trip has two distinct components: a) providing Acute Surgical Pain Management (ASPM) care for a surgical hand team at Hopital Adventiste d’Haiti, and b) holding continuing education sessions and placing ultrasound machines into service at both the Visitation Clinic in the Nippes region and at Hopital Adventiste d’Haiti. Faculty and administrators are developing a team to educate providers on trauma stabilization, airway management, line placement, ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia (USGRA), and much more.

The mission will take place Oct. 7-14, 2017. Donations can be made by visiting www.mtsa.edu/donate.
