Instructions for receiving financial assistance.

Congratulations on being admitted to MTSA’s DNAP Practice Doctorate Class of 2025!

The Financial Aid Office is committed to supporting your educational goals by providing information and access to financial resources during your three-year program. If you are interested in receiving financial assistance, please follow the instructions in the steps found below and stay aware of deadlines.

Important Financial Aid Steps – New Student Checklist

1. MTSA Financial Guide

2. Complete the 22-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Please note: Students will not be asked to pay a fee to complete the FAFSA.

  • Must complete 2022-2023 FAFSA prior to your orientation.
  • Complete FAFSA using 2021 tax return information. MTSA’s school code is 007783. You can select to use the Data Retrieval Tool, within the FAFSA application, to move your income tax information into the FAFSA.

3. Schedule your mandatory financial aid orientation

Schedule your orientation using Bookings. You may schedule either an in-person or online Teams appointment by (the deadline) November 3, 2022, by linking here. If you are a local resident in middle Tennessee, we prefer you schedule an in-person appointment for your orientation. Hours to schedule an appointment are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Let us know if you will be needing us to request your military benefits – we will need a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility and DD214 (service members). You may review webpage https://mtsa.edu/admissions/financial-aid/veterans-education-benefits/.

4. Prepare a monthly budget to use in calculating your need for financial assistance for your 2023 academic year. You may print this budget worksheet, or you can find budget worksheets online that may work better for your situation:

6. Cost of Attendance – Click on the Practice Doctorate Program document, which provides an explanation and breakdown for the Financial Aid cost of attendance.


7. EFT Authorization Agreement 

a. You will complete your EFT Authorization by logging in to the CAMS student portal, under Electronic Forms. The completion of this form will ensure your credit balances are sent to the bank account of your choice. MTSA will not be printing refund checks. MTSA does not pull funds from your account without an official authorization. MTSA will perform a prenote test on your bank account and will need at least two weeks to perform this before funds can be transferred.

b. If you ever need to update your bank account information during your three years with MTSA, contact the Business Office to complete a new EFT Authorization.

 

8. After your financial aid orientation, review the steps for accepting/declining your financial aid offer – STEPS

https://elmselect.com Type in MTSA, click Next and View Loans, to view the lenders MTSA students have used most frequently. Select a lender of your choice (MTSA has no preferred lender list or arrangement).

 

9. Financial Aid Resources – Print out for your records

 

10.MTSA offers a Financial Education Center powered by Everfi. Log in to https://mtsa-edsouth.everfi-next.net/welcome/financialeducation. Click on a playlist, and log in with your mtsa.edu email address. Work through playlists and learn at your leisure.

 

Deadlines:

  • Complete your 2022-23 FAFSA prior to your orientation – fafsa.gov
  • Complete your financial aid orientation by Nov. 3, 2022
  • Complete all applications for loans by Nov. 3, 2022
  • Complete your EFT Authorization on your student portal by Nov. 3, 2022.
  • If you have adjustments to make on your financial aid offer, email finaid@mtsa.edu by Nov. 3, 2022.
  • Accept your financial aid offer on your student portal CAMS student portal/Admin/My Financial Aid by Nov 13, 2022, once you are satisfied with the amounts and loan types. If you need more time, contact finaid@mtsa.edu.
  • Complete your 2023-24 FAFSA by June 30, 2023
