Instructions for receiving financial assistance.

Congratulations on being admitted to MTSA’s DNAP Practice Doctorate Class of 2022!

The Financial Aid Office is committed to supporting your educational goals by providing information and access to financial resources during your three-year program. If you are interested in receiving financial assistance, please follow the instructions in the steps found below and watch for deadlines.

Important Financial Aid Steps – New Student Checklist

3. Complete the 19-20 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Or you may complete the FAFSA using the FSA MyStudentAid mobile app.

Please note: Students will not be asked to pay a fee to complete the FAFSA.

  • Must complete 2019-2020 FAFSA prior to being awarded federal loans.
  • Use 2017 tax return information. MTSA’s school code is 007783. You can select to use the Data Retrieval Tool, within the FAFSA application, to move your income tax information into the FAFSA.

4. Schedule your mandatory financial aid orientation

Please schedule an appointment as soon as possible, and prior to November 7, 2019, to meet with the Financial Aid Office by emailing finaid@mtsa.edu. Office hours are Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • If you are a local resident of Middle Tennessee, we ask you to schedule a visit to our office for your orientation. Please allow 30-45 minutes for this visit.
  • If you reside outside of the Middle Tennessee area, you may schedule your orientation to be handled by phone call. Please schedule at least 30 minutes for the phone session.

  • Applying for Federal Aid
  • Do you have current education loans?
  • Budgeting
  • Cost of attending / Payment and Tuition Schedule sheet
  • When is tuition due?
  • Loan options, loan terms and other assistance
  • Loan repayment
  • Consumer Information
  • Financial Aid & Business Office expectations during your program
  • Your questions

(Let us know if you will be needing us to request your military benefits – we will need a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility and DD214 (service members)).

5. Prepare a monthly budget to use in calculating your need for financial assistance for your 2020 year. You may print this budget worksheet, or you can find budget worksheets online that may work better for your situation:

7. Cost of Attendance – The explanation and breakdown for the Financial Aid cost of attendance.

8. Print and complete the below EFT Authorization Agreement.

You may turn in your EFT Authorization during your orientation or scan and upload securely on our website. Go here: https://mtsa.edu/about/upload-forms/  Choose recipient – Jennifer Speer in Financial Aid > Type in your first and last name > upload your form. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL THE EFT AUTHORIZATION.

9. Financial Aid Resources – Print out for your records

10. After your financial aid orientation, confirm the types of loans and amounts you wish to borrow, by emailing finaid@mtsa.edu. Deadline is November 30, 2019.

Deadlines:

  • Complete your 2019-20 FAFSA as soon as possible – fafsa.gov
  • Complete your financial aid orientation prior to 11/7/2019
  • Confirm your awards by emailing finaid@mtsa.edu prior to 11/30/2019
  • Complete your 2020-21 FAFSA by June 30, 2020
